Have you ever engaged in “retail therapy,” buying to feel better? Or eaten a lot of food or chocolate because you wanted to bring on a better mood? Did either of them work for very long? Chances are…probably not.
Happiness is a byproduct of contentment and contentment only comes from within. Fortunately, there are 2 simple actions that you can take to cultivate contentment & true happiness.
Meditate & cultivate a deeper relationship with yourself.
It sounds silly, but spending time getting to know the deeper parts of yourself is the only sure-fire, tried & tested way to achieve lasting happiness.
Be in service to others.
You feel good when you’re helping others because you’re giving from your center. Helping a neighbor carry groceries, washing your roommate’s dishes, or volunteering at a soup kitchen will all help you find lasting happiness.
Happiness is elusive, especially when you’re chasing it, but when you give up the chase and turn your attention inward, happiness will come find you.
What can you do to invite happiness into your life today?
